Looking Ahead | Life Insurance Awareness Month

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, making it a natural time to ask a simple question: When was the last time you reviewed your coverage?

If you don’t currently have life insurance, this can also be a good time to consider whether someone you love or a financial responsibility you’ve taken on would be impacted if something happened to you. Life insurance can help provide financial stability for the people and commitments that matter most.

Life insurance is often something we put in place during a major milestone and then rarely revisit. But life has a way of changing.

Maybe you’ve:

· Purchased a new home or taken on additional debt

· Welcomed a child or grandchild

· Changed jobs or experienced a meaningful increase in income

· Started or grown a business

· Become an empty nester

· Approached retirement

· Experienced a marriage, divorce, or other family transition

Any of these can be a good reason to take another look - not necessarily because you need more insurance, but because it’s worth making sure what you already have still fits your life today.

A quick review can include confirming your beneficiaries, understanding how long your current coverage lasts, reviewing employer-provided benefits, and asking whether the amount and type of coverage still align with the people and responsibilities you want to protect.

Like many areas of financial planning, life insurance doesn’t need constant attention. It simply deserves an occasional check-in as life evolves.

September may be the reminder - but the goal is simply to make sure the plan you put in place still reflects the life you’re living now.
